It has been confirmed that an oral hearing will take place in Ballybofey later this month to examine objections lodged against the Twin Towns by-pass.
Donegal South-West Senator Brian O’Domhnaill made the announcement yesterday (Tuesday) that an An Bord Pleanála had decided to hold an Oral Hearing on the N15 Ballybofey/Stranorlar Bypass Compulsory Purchase Order 2007.

Lifford-Strabane project short-listed for EU Funding
A multi-million euro project could transform Lifford and Strabane into one of the most attractive cross-border urban areas in Europe.
A budget of up to €8 million could be available under a special EU backed programme for public places if it gets the green light.
The project is one of 20 short listed from all over Europe out of 126 submissions, but only six to eight will be chosen to share a budget of €50 million.

Father of Special Olympian speaks out….
The father of a Special Olympian, who won a silver medal in last year’s Shanghai games, has described any decision not to send athletes to this summer’s Olympics as “disastrous.”
Glenfin man Michael Gallagher, whose daughter Marion (21) came second in the 400-meter walk competition last October, has spoken out against any decision to boycott the games as a form of protest against recent violence in Tibet.
Mr Gallagher said: “I’m very surprised to hear that this issue could prevent athletes competing at the games and that they should be blamed for it.

A total of forty of fifty one pharmacies in Donegal including a huge number in the Finn Valley area have written to the HSE stating their intention to withdraw from their contracts with the HSE as of May 1st.
Responding to the news Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has written to Minister Mary Harney requesting that the Department of Health intervene immediately to facilitate talks between IPU and the HSE with six weeks to resolve the issue.
Lambasting the Minister for what will see pharmacies withdraw from their contracts with the HSE to supply medication to the public Senator Doherty said

Finn Harps boss Paul Hegarty could be in hot water with the eircom League after being sent off during last weekend’s Premier Division clash with Bohemians.
Hegarty was sent from the dug-out to the stands for dissent after he reacted to the dismissal of Kevin Ramsey.
Although Hegarty watched most of the second half beside the Harps fans in part of the stand, his presence in the visitors’ dressing room could now lead to further disciplinary action on top of his sending off.
