Hegarty in hot water
By Chris AshmoreFinn Harps boss Paul Hegarty could be in hot water with the eircom League after being sent off during last weekend’s Premier Division clash with Bohemians.Hegarty was sent from the dug-out to the stands for dissent after he reacted to the dismissal of Kevin Ramsey.Although Hegarty watched most of the second half beside the Harps fans in part of the stand, his presence in the visitors’ dressing room could now lead to further disciplinary action on top of his sending off.Under the rules he should not have been in contact with his players at the interval, but he was seen emerging from the dressing rooms before the start of the second half. However, much will depend on what match referee Alan Kelly puts in his official report. When questioned after the game, he maintained that he had not seen Hegarty coming out of the dressing rooms and indicated that it would be up to the fourth official, Ritchie Winter, to make any comment. If the official report states that Hegarty was in the Harps’ dressing rooms at half-time, after he had been sent-off, he is likely to receive some form of punishment – which could even mean a touch-line ban.Hegarty described Kelly’s decision to send off Ramsey as being “disgraceful.”Meanwhile, on the playing front, Ramsey will now be suspended, depleting the options for Hegarty even further
