An open day at an east Donegal national school this weekend is bound to evoke some great memories.

Drummucklagh National School, between Raphoe and St. Johnston, first opened its doors in September 1909.

Now, 100 years on, an open day is being held this Sunday from 1.00 – 6.00 pm.

The school shut in May 1980, and was converted into a private dwelling.

It is now the home of Daniel and Karen Devine, and they are really looking forward to the open day.

There will be a display of old photographs and memorabilia.

A total of 411 boys and 355 girls enrolled in the school during its history.

Proceeds on the day will go to Donegal Hospice.
