Donegal cricket club back in the big time
St Johnston Cricket Club are set to compete in the top fight of North West cricket after they secured promotion to Section One with a seven wicket victory against Burndennet on Saturday.
It will be the team’s first time in the top tier since 1994 and their first Section 2 title since 1976.
“We’re delighted to get over the line at last,” Captain Andrew Fleming told the Post.
“We definitely saw it as our time. We’ve put in a lot of hard work over the last two or three years to get the club into the shape needed to fight for promotion.”
“A lot of things fell into place. We had great commitment from the core group of players and we were able to put out and we were able to put out a settled side, which makes all the difference.”
“The hard work starts now in terms of preparation,” he said.
